We are poised to expand our digital footprint and revolutionize how we create, distribute, and commercialize music content globally.We are looking for a dynamic and commercially focused Head of Content to develop and implement content strategies across all the print products we produce and sell.

Strategic Leadership and Commercial Growth:
- Develop and implement a forward-thinking content strategy that aligns with Hal Leonard's goals and drives revenue growth.
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities to expand our market presence and increase sales.
Business Development and Partnerships:
- Lead external relationships with artists, educators, and industry partners to enhance content offerings and distribution channels.
- Engage directly with customer segments to identify content gaps and unmet needs, turning insights into high-impact content offerings.
Digital Innovation:
- Oversee the development of engaging digital content across various platforms, integrating emerging technologies to enhance user experience.
- Innovate content monetization strategies to maximize profitability across digital channels.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Build and lead a high-performing content team, fostering a culture of innovation and commercial excellence.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technology, marketing, and sales teams to align content initiatives with business goals.
Market Analysis and Performance Management:
- Utilize data analytics and market insights to inform strategy, track performance, and adjust tactics to achieve sales targets.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to maintain a competitive edge.
- Identify new growth opportunities based on market research and direct customer engagement to uncover gaps or unmet needs that would result in increased profits.
Proven content-strategy leadership
- Minimum 5 years building and executing content road-maps that drove material revenue growth.
- Direct P&L ownership — sets financial targets, allocates budget, and reports on topline / margin.
Physical-to-digital transformation track-record
- Hands-on experience migrating large legacy catalogues (print, linear, analogue) into scalable digital products and workflows
- Comfortable modernising file standards, metadata, rights, content management systems, and distribution stacks.
Legacy-systems modernisation
- Demonstrated success digitising or replacing complex, long-standing editorial or supply-chain processes while up-skilling tenured teams.
Scale & distribution
- Has launched and scaled multi-format content initiatives (owned platforms, third-party marketplaces, subscription, D2C, B2B).
- Knows how to prioritise back-catalogue, net-new IP, and user-generated pipelines for maximum reach and ROI.
People & change management
- Built or managed multi-disciplinary teams (internal + external, global + freelance).
- Comfortable driving cultural change in fast-moving, high-accountability environments.
Data-driven mindset
- Sets measurable goals (revenue, CAC/LTV, engagement, retention) and works with BI/Product to build dashboards and iterative test loops.
Nice-to-have
- Exposure to consumer-insight frameworks (search, streaming, trends, e-commerce analytics) and translating them into content bets.
- Experience monetising long-tail catalogues via modular packaging, dynamic pricing or self-publishing ecosystems.
- Prior work with creator economies or UGC moderation / incentive systems.
- Familiarity with music notation or music-ed segments is a plus
